AFC holds its 4th Agricultural Expert Day in new office premises

Thursday, February 27, 2020
On January 13th and 14th, 2020 AFC held the 4th Agricultural Expert Day in our new office premises.

Over 50 participants from 17 countries and 20 projects took part in two interesting days on the subject of “Climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies in the agricultural sector”. It was a great opportunity for the in-house and the project staff to meet each other personally, also creating a platform for exchange between projects.

On the first day, three working groups were set up, analyzing different case studies all focusing either on mitigation or adaptation strategies in the agricultural sector. The discussions were lively and there was much talk about project internal examples. In the end, the different groups presented their work and discussed the results in the whole group. A number of recommendations with application examples where given and the day ended with a nice joint dinner in Bonn.

On the second day, the whole group made a field trip to the “Campus Klein-Altendorf”, an experimental farm of the University of Bonn. The participants listened to two interesting presentations from researchers and got a tour over the grounds and the trials fields afterwards. The day ended with a successful formal opening event of the new office premises where about 100 invited guests could appreciate the energy efficient facility and let the evening end comfortably.

Feedback from participants showed that the event was a resounding success. We are therefore looking forward to welcoming our experts again in 2021.
