Description: 

Development Objective:Climate-resilient, sustainable agriculture strengthens agricultural production in Uzbekistan and contributes to improved food security and resource conservation.

Project Objective:The Uzbek Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) and the Committee for Veterinary Affairs and the Development of Animal Production (Veterinary Committee) are involved in the promotion of on-farm and institutional expertise to develop sustainable and climate-smart seed and fodder production for livestock.

The expert dialogue on climate-resilient, sustainable agriculture focuses on a sustainable improvement of fodder cultivation for milk production, from seed development to feeding. The aim is to build up the corresponding competencies at institutional and farm level to achieve the agricultural development goals set by the Uzbek government.The involvement of the MoA and the Veterinary Committee as political and operational partners creates a broad basis for cooperation at institutional and farm level and is also intended to counteract the decoupling of arable farming and animal production

Tasks of the expert: 

  • Team leadership.
  • Coordination of the project activities•
  • Coordination with the project partners and international projects•
  • Planning and Implementation of the operational consulting•
  • Education and training of technical and managerial staff•
  • Planning and Implementation of inter-company training•
  • Participationat/Coordination of important events•Ensure the coherence of all project activities•
  • Planning and Organisation of the missions of international short-term experts•
  • Planning and Organisation of study trips to Germany•
  • Data collection and evaluation of the monitoring of the partner farms and Documentary processing of the counselling approach and the effects of consulting•
  • Ensuring high-quality reporting to the client•
  • Coordination of public relations work•
  • Organisation and preparation of the PSG (project steering group).
Qualifications: 

Minimum requirements:

  • At least 5 years of professional experience•
  • Good knowledge of German•
  • Very good knowledge of English
  • University degree in agricultural sciences (or similar) (at least diploma/Master's degree)•

Further qualifications / experience that will be positively considered within the framework of the assessment (advantageous)

Professional background

  • Agricultural science studies with specialisation in forage production/animal production•
  • Project management experience on an international level.
  • Experience in cooperation with other international projects and donor coordination•
  • Professional experience in cattle breeding and/or husbandry•
  • Knowledge of feeding for milk production•Knowledge in seed production•
  • Experience in climate resilience and the application of resource-saving and conservation-oriented production methods.

Regional expertise and language skills

  • Country-specific experience and knowledge in Uzbekistan and Central Asia respectively•
  • Experience and knowledge of animal husbandry in arid regions•
  • Russian or Uzbek language skills, very good German skills.

Methodical competence:

  • Experience in team leadership (incl. leadership experience)•
  • Experience in company counselling (methodical counselling competence)•
  • Experience in agricultural policy and institutional consulting•
  • Experience in the training and further education of specialists and managers•
  • Experience in monitoring project results•Experience in dealing with digital media and social networks.

 

Start / Duration: 

From April 2023 to March 2026 with an option for one-year extension
