Background:

Within the framework of German Financial Cooperation (FC) with Uganda, the German Government has approved a fund of Euro 20m as a credit line.

The purpose is to finance small and medium agricultural enterprises (Agri-SMEs) and households that operate small farms. It will contribute to their economic resilience and creation of employment.

Thus, the aim is that participating financial institutions provide credit for traditional as well as greening agricultural investment and activity.

Uganda Development Bank (UDB) finances projects with a focus on increasing production and productivity of agriculture at farm level for both small-holder and large-scale farmers, making consideration for the changing climate situation in Uganda. The funding is intended to enable farmers access needed inputs such as seeds, fertilizers and others. The Bank also supports acquisition of appropriate technologies that aid production, post-harvest handling, processing and storage facilities.

Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s/ Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Agribusiness, Agricultural Development, Agricultural Economics, or any related field.
  • At least 10 years of practical experience in the field of agriculture finance/ MSME finance.
  • Relevant experience in Uganda and other Eastern African countries.
  • Experience with KfW or other development institutions.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
