AFC awarded new project in Kazakhstan

Friday, December 20, 2019

From 2020 to 2023, AFC will implement the German-Kazakh Agricultural Dialogue (Agrarpolitischer Dialog, APD) project.

The project will improve the legal and institutional frameworks for the further development of a sustainable agricultural sector in Kazakhstan. To do so, the project will maintain a bilateral dialogue platform on central agricultural topics, in order to place a strong emphasis on a modern and sustainable agriculture at a political, economic, scientific and social level. The two focus areas will be on organic agriculture and agricultural finance.

Therefore, the project targets decision-makers in the parliament of Kazakhstan, in particular the agricultural committee and the professional and managerial staff of the ministry of agriculture of Kazakhstan as well as governmental institutions and consulting and research institutions assigned to this ministry. Other target groups include multipliers of German, European and Kazakh agricultural or economic and scientific policies.

In order to achieve these goals, AFC formed a consortium with the Academy of German Cooperatives (Akademie Deutscher Genossenschaften, ADG), which will also benefit from the support of the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM Organics International) and other associated partners from the organic sector. This project is the fourth phase of an on-going project funded by the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture, and has a volume of 1.7 million Euros.

The team, comprised of two international and one local long term expert, as well as the consortium are looking forward to a powerful project start.
