Within the cooperation with the Algerian Ministry of Agriculture, Rural (MADR), the GIZ, in partnership with the Algerian National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRAA), is in charge of implementing the project 'Programme d'appui au secteur de l'agriculture, y compris dans la gestion de l'eau, l'agro-industrie et la pollution agricole (PASA)'.
PASA is co-financed by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) for the value chains dates and chili in the Wilaya (Province) of Biskra and potatoes in the Wilaya of El Oued since 2019 until 2022.
The PASA project and its partners are aiming to support SME in the date, potato and chili value chain in increasing their competitiveness on national and export markets through innovations and improved practices of processing, packaging and marketing.
The objective of this project is to improve marketing and export advisory services for agri-food businesses in Algeria through the development and testing of training and support instruments for processors and exporters.
Results to be achieved are:
The competitiveness of industrial and commercial actors in the downstream segment of value chains is improved, including compliance with national and export standards and regulations, and profitable business linkages are fostered with upstream actors.
